Are you "Ready for whatever happens?"

11/3/2019 (Permalink)

It is estimated that up to 50% of businesses that close due to a disaster, such as fire and flood never reopen!  Of the businesses that survive, the overwhelming majority of them had a preparedness plan in place.

Are you “Ready for whatever happens?”

Preparation is a key component for making it through any size disaster, whether it’s a small water leak, a large fire, or an area flood.  The best time to plan for such events is not when the event happens, but well before it happens.

The SERVPRO® Emergency READY Profile serves as a quick reference of important building and contact information or can be an ideal supplement to any well-designed emergency preparedness or existing contingency program.  Rather than simply reacting to disaster situations, most prefer proactive measures to establish a relationship with a restoration services company.

By working with SERVPRO® of Eastern Lake County to develop your personalized Emergency READY Profile your business will receive the benefit of over 40 years of experience in reducing the impact of any natural or man-made disaster.  SERVPRO® is a leader in water and fire damage response and can help you quickly get your property back in working order.

Limit Mold Growth

6/26/2019 (Permalink)

Did you know one of the most effective ways to limit mold is to mitigate water damage as quickly as possible? "Moisture control is the key to mold control. When water leaks or spills occur indoors-act promptly. A prompt response (within 24-48 hours) and thorough clean-up, drying, and/or removal of water-damaged materials will prevent or limit mold growth." Quoted from OSHA

Water extraction to remove excessive amounts of water followed by fast, thorough drying of the structure and contents is important in preventing mold growth. In the event mold remediation is required, SERVPRO of Eastern Lake County will perform mold remediation work according to industry standards.

We are available 24/7. Call us immediately if you have a water damage or if you think you have mold.

Mold In Your Home

6/22/2019 (Permalink)

MOLD is a scary word, so here is a little information on it to make it not seem TOO scary. And just know, WE ARE HERE TO HELP.

Microscopic mold spores naturally occur almost everywhere, both outdoors and indoors. This makes it impossible to remove all mold from a home or business. Therefore, mold remediation reduces the mold spore count back to its natural or baseline level. Some restoration businesses advertise “mold removal” and even guarantee to remove all mold, which is a fallacy. Consider the following mold facts:

Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.
Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, or AC/heating systems or even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.
Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and irritants.
Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise, the mold may return.
Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.

If your Lake County home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training equipment and expertise to remediate your mold infestation.

4th of July Safety Tips

6/14/2019 (Permalink)

With the 4th of July quickly approaching we wanted to increase awareness about fire safety and burn injuries. Every year, thousands of people are injured using consumer fireworks and they start an average of 18,500 fires resulting in property damage.  All of us at SERVPRO of Eastern Lake County want you to enjoy your Independence Day, and we hope you do so SAFELY.  Here are a few tips that we like to follow:

  • Obey local laws
  • Keep spectators a safe distance from the fireworks
  • Make sure all fireworks are supervised by an adult
  • Do not point or throw fireworks at another person
  • Avoid lighting fireworks in a residential area
  • Follow the directions on all fireworks
  • NEVER use homemade fireworks
  • Keep appropriate fire prevention tools on hand
  • Use common sense

It is never too early to think about safety measures for your 4th of July celebration.  These tips about holiday safety only scratch the surface, but you can learn more by visiting the National Council on Firework Safety.
